Judy Mahoney, MSW, LSW

outpatient therapist

Judy is a Licensed Social Worker, who is working towards her Clinical License. Judy specializes in working with adolescents and young adults who struggle with anxiety, depression, and stress. Judy works with the clients to build coping skills for their anxiety and depression. She also assists clients in identifying the role that both familial and societal expectations play in fueling it. This enables clients to gain clarity over which goals and mindset are truly their own rather than the desire to meet others’ expectations.

Judy enjoys taking a trauma-informed approach while supporting clients as they navigate life transitions and relationships, create a healthy work-life or school-life balance, build coping skills, practice effective communication, and set boundaries. She believes that by recognizing our resilience, challenging perspectives, and growing self-esteem, we can bring more peace of mind within our own lives, which in turn makes space for joy and self-love.

Though she can integrate different therapy styles, her primary focus is to maintain an empathetic, warm, and non-judgmental approach. She believes that the therapeutic relationship itself is the foundation of effective therapy. She utilizes not only her education and experience in the Social Work field, but her own journey with emotional health, her humor and genuine love for human connection. She arrives to sessions as a human first and therapist second.

Judy completed her Master of Social Work degree at the University of Pennsylvania School of Social Policy & Practice and her Bachelor of Social Work degree at Messiah College. Before working in private practice, she has worked with a wide range of clients including teen pregnancy, therapeutic foster care, and hospice.
